This study sought to examine the effects of theraplay for two key subjects, an adoptive mother and her 6-year-old girl. Theraplay was conducted over a total of 28 sessions. The results of this study were as follows. The child`s level of ADHD scale was observed to have decreased from a subclinical level to a normal level. The levels of other maladaptive behavior scales were also decreased from subclinical levels to normal levels. The level of adoptive mother`s parenting stress was also decreased. In addition, the relationship between the mother and child in terms of MIM exhibited positive changes. The mother showed a more nurturing attitude in post-MIM than in pre-MIM. The child also accepted her mother`s nurturing naturally and showed the decreased passive-aggressive behaviors in post-MIM.
